Paphiopedilum Maudiae Coloratum ..
It bears wine-red flowers with striped upper sepals and greenish white centers. Thick, broad, strap-shaped green leaves, often mottled with light grey-green.

Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum ...
These have distinctive hairy flowers ... with paddle shaped petals with curly upper margins. The colours go from overall golden brown to glowing magenta petal tips. Total plant height does not exceed 35 cm and the leaves are solid green.

The epithet "hirsutissimum" was coined by John Lindley, because of the noticeable hairiness of the flower parts.

The genus Pescatorea is small, from 12-16 species, distributed from Costa Rica to Ecuador. The generic name is dedicated to M. Pescatore, a French patron of orchid species in the mid-19th century.

This is a bulbous species and requires much the same conditions as Cattlyea. The spikes are produced from the base of each pseudobulb, and old spikes should not be cut back too close to the rhizome, as the new lead will develop there.
