Epidendrum stamfordianum

Click on the image for enlarged view ...

Epidendrum stamfordianum ...
Native to Central America ...
This is a bulbous species and requires much the same conditions as Cattlyea. The spikes are produced from the base of each pseudobulb, and old spikes should not be cut back too close to the rhizome, as the new lead will develop there.

Shot in the "Orchid House" ... at Lincoln park Conservatory ...
in April, 2008.
